This coal mine started in 1910 and was the number 5 of the Marcinelle-Nord company. Later the mine was taken over by the important company Monceau-Fontaine. From then on the mine was given number 25. The coal was mined to a depth of 1220 meters. In 1972 there was a cave-in in the underground that killed six miners. Péchon closed on 31 March 1975 but continued to serve as an air shaft until 1980 when the last mine at Monceau-Fontaine closed.

All buildings have been demolished but the two metal shaft towers have been preserved.
