The Clarion House was built in 1912 for Nelson Independent Labour Party and is the last remaining house of many across the country. These houses provided a place in the countryside for people to enjoy fresh air and comradeship, a tradition that continues to this day as it attracts many walkers and cyclists. Set on Jinny Lane near Newchurch in Pendle and overlooking some beautiful countryside the house is open on Sundays throughout the year from 10.30 to 4.00. A range of hot and cold drinks, crisps and confectionery are on sale, and visitors are welcome to bring their own food. Parking is limited as most people arrive on foot or by cycling.
