The former castle was first mentioned in documents in 1270 with Knight Wolfker von Judenau. In 1857, the princes sold the castle to the Lower Austrian Orphan Fund. The school sisters set up a primary school there. In 1938, the sisters were expelled, the castle became a German military hospital in 1942 and a Russian military hospital in 1945. After that, the already badly neglected building was once again used for social purposes (home economics school, refugee home, school). Since 1961, the organization "Save the Children" has run a boarding school and a kindergarten here. The castle was extensively restored by the state of Lower Austria between 1982 and 1997 and was donated to "Save the Children" in 1994.

The castle complex, which dates back to the 13th century, was destroyed by the Turks in 1525. The current castle building (moated castle) was built in its basic design around 1589. Since 1961, the castle has housed the "Save the Children" organization with a boarding school for students and apprentices. Source: judenau-baumgarten.at/Schloss_Judenau
