Roman road sections in the southern Ammersee area
At the southern end of the Ammersee crossed in Roman times - in Bavaria around 15 BC. BC to AD 500 - two important traffic arteries near Raisting. On the one hand, the military and supply road for legionnaires of the Roman Empire, which also runs from south to north - east parallel to Via Claudia Augusta - to the then province of Raetien from Bozen via Brenner, Partenkirchen and Raisting and then west past the Ammersee to the capital Augusta Vindelicum ( Augsburg).
