    The Cambridgeshire village of Buckden is both a lovely place to explore and a great base for some excellent walks in the surrounding countryside.



    Nearby is Grafham Water, England's third largest reservoir and home to a 280-acre (113 ha) nature reserve. North of this is Brampton Wood, the county's second largest ancient woodland. There's also superb walking along the River Great Ouse.



    In the village is the splendid 12th-century Buckden Towers, parts of which are Grade I-listed. In fact, there are over 60 other listed buildings in the parish. There’s also a number of good places to eat and drink and some great accommodation options.
