Friedrichstal is the "valley of the hammers", because here in 1761 the foundations for the Royal Swabian ironworks were laid with the founding of a hammer mill. The hammering of the workers sounded all over the valley, whence it takes its name. The small museum in Friedrichstal illustrates the historical industrial history of the Königlich Schwäbischen Hüttenwerke in the northern Black Forest.
