The Dutch windmill, located on the north side of Stöckumer Straße (B1) and about 200 meters from Nobiskrug, was built in 1866/67 by the Groß Escherder miller Hermann Behrens. The name of this brick mill goes back to Dutch mill builders. The hallmark of this type of mill is the rotating cap or hood placed on a wooden or brick tower to which the wings are attached.

After the death of its first owner, the mill subsequently passed into the hands of different millers. As early as 1931 it was powered by a diesel engine and half of the rod cross was removed then and later completely removed.

After the mill stopped operating, the Protestant parish of Groß Escherde initially wanted to buy the building and convert it into a youth center. However, this project failed because the Hanover regional church considered the estimated construction costs to be too high and the project was not approved due to lack of traffic safety.
The mill and access road have been privately owned since 1980; the building is used as a residential building and therefore cannot be visited.
