The nature reserve "Abtei und Saaleaue" belongs to the EU bird sanctuary "Saale-Elster-Aue south of Halle".
Here the White Elster flows into the Saale. Shortly before that, the Gerwische flows into the Elster (also called still water here). This is why the Elster at the mouth looks almost larger than the Saale.
