Connection Vogelsang - Biburg - separate from the road - ideal for trips with children and with a racing bike
April 1, 2021
Easy to drive paved foot/bike path next to the road. In the case of a shared footpath and cycle path, both sides must show consideration for each other, with the cyclist bearing greater responsibility due to the higher speed. Here, cyclists are given special consideration for pedestrians. This is because pedestrians are the weaker road users. Pedestrians can be seriously injured when colliding with cyclists at high speeds. In the case of shared footpaths and cycle paths, pedestrians can be on the shared path. You may unexpectedly step aside and walk into the bike. This danger is particularly relevant for children, who can suddenly start running and run in front of the bike. According to § 3 IIa StVO, cyclists have to be particularly considerate of children, those in need of help and the elderly. They also have to reckon with shock reactions from pedestrians. If there is a shared footpath and cycle path, it is regularly necessary to approach the pedestrians slowly and, if necessary, to drive past the pedestrians at walking speed. If there are no pedestrians in the traffic area and if it is easy to see, a speed of up to 30 km/h can be considered permissible.
