This Grade II-listed building was named in honour of Sir Hugh Myddelton, who oversaw the construction of the New River water supply aqueduct, which runs through the grounds. Today, there's a tea room, a visitor centre and a museum.

The gardens are a botanist's delight. Crocus and wisteria hog the limelight in winter and spring, while summer sees the kitchen garden in full bloom. In autumn, the grounds subtly shift to hues of gold, orange and red.
