In 1931 this prison got an extension. After the correctional facilities in Osnabrück, Vechta and Lingen were established after the end of the war, the prison was dissolved. However, it served as a youth detention center until 1998. Today the premises are used by the district court.

The parish church of St. Vincentius deserves special mention.
The former parish church, built after 1252 and now the north aisle, had two bays of a nave and a straight choir, which were connected by a pointed triumphal arch. The church tower in front of the parish church was built in 1510.

Bersenbrück Monastery was founded by the House of Ravensberg and settled by Cistercian nuns. Today, it is largely used by the district court, but the exterior can be freely explored. The monastery church is open for visits, and there is a museum in the eastern part.
