An important road connection and bridge that connected the cities of Meißen and Freiberg had existed at this point for centuries. Initially, the crossing was a simple bridge bridge. In 1696, August the Strong ordered the simple bridge footbridge to be replaced by a stable wooden bridge, which, under the then landlord of Bieberstein, Gotthelff Friedrich von Schönberg, then also took place with the permission to double the bridge toll. In 1732 his son, Caspar von Schönberg, replaced this wooden bridge with a stone double arch bridge, which can also be seen on the right bridge keystone. Today the bridge is falling into disrepair.

Very nice old bridge at the former customs house. It would be nice if this building could be preserved.
