The Schüttorf town hall is a two-storey square building made of Bentheim sandstone with a stepped gable from the 15th century, in which the Schüttorf cubit is embedded, a 68 cm long metal rod that was used for calibration.
The Schüttorf town hall has already gone through everything. It served as a ballroom for wedding celebrations, as a police station and prison, as an elementary school, daycare center and as a tool shed for the fire engine. But that's only by the way, because at first it has always been the center of the city as the seat of the mayor and the council.
