The Schüttorf town hall is a two-storey square building made of Bentheim sandstone with a stepped gable from the 15th century, in which the Schüttorf cubit is embedded, a 68 cm long metal rod that was used for calibration.

The Schüttorf town hall has already gone through everything. It served as a ballroom for wedding celebrations, as a police station and prison, as an elementary school, daycare center and as a tool shed for the fire engine.
