Evangelical Church of Amönau

The church tower was built in 1200 and served as a defense tower for Amönau Castle. The church building was built in 1300.

The interior of the fortified church, with its 15th-century baptismal font, is decorated in beautiful shades of blue.

The strong Romanesque west tower with a late medieval pointed helmet and four wich houses was built around 1200. In earlier times it served as a defense tower. The nave, which is essentially Romanesque, was extended around 1300 to include an early Gothic, three-sided closed and formerly vaulted choir. The church was remodeled around 1749. Around 1790 the windows and probably also the vaults were changed. The building stands on a former cemetery, the walls of which have been partially preserved.
