Once busy industrial area with military airbase and De Havilland airplane factory actively operating, this was much different place.

Idea of urban Nacional park was born, some 10 years ago, when they closed operation and all this area was abandoned.

It's incredible what has been done in past years. I live in the area for past 20 years and witness changes regularly.

Besides kilometres of hiking/biking trails you can actively participate in planting and growing frut trees and vegetables in public garden.

Park's vast grounds are often used for live concerts and celebrations.

The biggest one is Celebration of Canada day, July 01. with huge fireworks at the end.

The latest upgrade was extension of subway train route with station at the north side of the park. Now you can easily get here without your car.

There is still a lot of work and planting to be done but I'm confident that in a few years it will be the greatest place in the city and around.
