Road Cycling Highlight
Culminating at 2,642 meters above sea level, the Col du Galibier connects St-Michel-de-Maurienne to Briançon via the Col du Télégraphe and the Col du Lautaret. The first passage of the Tour de France took place in Galibier on July 10, 1911 on the initiative of Henri Desgrange, founder of the Tour.
Since then, this pass has become legendary. The convicts of the road, nickname given to the runners at the time, set off to attack the pass. Not everyone made it to the end. This daunting challenge, I am sure you will be able to meet it. The road is now smooth as a billiard table and you have a very good derailleur.

The Galibier is a classic that you simply have to put on your to-do list if you are an ambitious racing cyclist. Apart from that, the Alps present themselves from their most beautiful side here, the barren landscape and the view in the upper part will impress you.

Gorgeous climb, do not forget windbreaker ...
At the top there is a rest stop.

A dreamlike nice pass. It is best to drive in September, because it is the quietest and usually free of snow.

Spectacular driveway with a unique panaroma. Even in hot weather, it is fresh and very windy on the Col. Stop near the bridge over the Valloirette recommended.

Unfortunately, despite the tunnel, all felt over the top. Cars, motorcycles, motorhomes ... The whole traffic has unfortunately clouded the mood a bit. It was kind of stressful. Too bad. Nevertheless, one must have driven the Galibier times.

Beautiful pass. Here the rough alpine world shows itself from its most beautiful side.

Most beautiful ascent from St. Michel-de-Maurienne over the Col du Telegraphe. There are about 2070 m to climb. It is one of the most scenic Alpine passes. Great views to the north and south. Height 2642 m

very nice pass on the road or mountain bike, to follow with the Lautaret just before. A must in the Hautes Alpes

beautiful ascent into the hinterland and into the felt loneliness.
At the beginning of June there is still snow on the side, but the road is clear.
However, you should be careful when it's wet, as the road has no crash barriers.

Until now the galibier is my most favorite climb. The view, the heavy climb from the bridge / restaurant where te gradient goes toe 9% and more

There's a friendly shepherd who will give you a lift to the top, if you stick your thumb out!

A great mountain. The climb is definitely worth it and the view is impressive. The descent is just wonderful

This year we chose a freezing cold climb in August. 4 degrees and sleet showers on Col. 15 degrees difference to the valley is heavy.
