On the southeast side of the Heiligenberg there is an enclosed spring that feeds the goose pond. It is not known for sure where the name comes from. The pond was concreted in the 1970s.

Wonderful place in every season. Especially in summer it is definitely cool under the trees.
On the Hochspeyer side it says:
On the southeast side of the eastern Heiligenberg, at about 305 meters above sea level, there is a source that feeds the Gänseweiher. Originally it was a spring pond that could form in the trough-like structure of the area. This was completely concreted in 1971, so that a small, not too deep pond could be created...
