From here you have a remarkable view of a total of 34 villages in the Hunsrück, Taunus and Rhine valleys. During the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648) troops of the Swedish King Gustav Adolf had marched along the Rhine and had set up military positions at various points. In Dörscheid, too, the name “Schwedenschanze” goes back to these war events.
