Very nice but challenging climb. Without via ferrata set walkable but very many places with rope safety, climbing passages and narrow kicks on slopes

One of the most spectacular hikes I did in the last couple of years. Stepping on the ridge at Nördlinger Hütte offers a remarkable and unique panoramic view to some of the rocky summits of the Southern Karwendel range. With the Freiungen peaks (as part of the trail) lying prominent in the center of the view you already get a glimpse of what you're about to get challenged by. Various signs warn about the fact that the Freiungen Höhenweg should only be done by experts with alpine experience and I can only confirm that there are various passages (8-10) that require experience with rocky and exposed trails that require minor climbing activities. The sign says about 5h from the Urspungssattel to Solsteinhaus. I did it in about 3h. Trail can be done w/o via ferrata equipment.

Trail is doable with a bit of mountain experience and when you're not afraid of heights.
