The church itself dates back to 1230. It had to be expanded as early as 1278 after Pritzwalk was granted city rights a few years earlier. It was built over and over again for almost 200 years until in 1451 it had reached the dimensions that are still impressive today. The outer walls clearly show how an original field stone church with a brick structure was completed here.

Cycling
The church was begun in 1256, after a devastating fire it was in the year 1501. The oldest parts are the field stone foundation of the tower. After a renewed fire in 1821, the church was rebuilt in 18128, but without rebuilding the tower, which was built in 1880-1882 in Neo-Gothic brick style.
