The Pastor-Bode-Weg is dedicated to the famous Heide pastor Wilhelm Bode (1860 - 1927). As pastor of Egestorf, Wilhelm Bode tirelessly campaigned for the preservation of the heathland. The purchase of Totengrund in 1906 and the founding of the Nature Conservation Park Association in 1909 happened on his initiative. In doing so, he prepared the origin of today's nature reserve.
