Despite the clear layout of the park, a neglected impression has emerged. This impression is determined by the fact that the planting evokes a too closed image. This again creates a feeling of insecurity, a characteristic of this time for spaces that are deserted and unclear. As a result, the park is hardly used anymore and it does not function as the green heart of the core of Zwijndrecht. The vicious circle of neglect and less use by the citizens of Zwijndrecht must be broken.

The Develpark is a park, located on an island in the Devel, which was designed in 1962. The original design by Hans Warnau and Jasper Meijers is a pure example of the strict modernist design style. It is the reconstruction design style. Sleek, sober and clearly structured according to a system in which the spatial effect is important. Thanks to this style, the concept of the park has remained virtually intact.
