The Steinhofberg is a wooded throwback knoll northwest of the Muckenkogel near Lilienfeld and namesake of the hut, which is not far from the Lilienfelder Hütte.
In 1959 the simple log cabin was leased by the St. Pölten Section, but it lived a modest existence. In 1987, when the Wilhelmsburg local group took over care, urgently needed renovation measures were initiated and over time a cozy refuge was built, which is also used as a youth hut.translated by
