The view over the sea of flowers of the Märzenbecher is impressive. Here is the largest occurrence of this beautiful plant in Hesse! March beetles love it wet, so the location here is ideal for them. Please stay on the path. The flowers will thank you. Märzenbecher are also poisonous and the Märzenbecher area is an adder area.

Hiking

I can't tear myself away from the beautiful sight of the many Märzenbecher - it's like a state horticultural show in the forest. That was the goal of our hike and really worth seeing. Tip: Only in March :-)
I have to correct: In 2024 there were definitely "February cups" and by the 1st third of March the peak flowering period had passed, so keep an eye on the general vegetation progress for the right time.

The March snowflakes with their blossoms are simply wonderful to look at at the moment (09.03.2025) in the forest near Homberg/Ohm!
The shortest route to the March snowflakes begins just behind the bus stop of the Waldershausen estate (on the right; seen from Homberg/Ohm). From here it is also marked at various intervals.
