The place Nitzow was first mentioned as civitas Nizem in the foundation deed of the Havelberg diocese in 948 (as an old to Yugoslav settlement).
In this document, Nitzow Castle was transferred to the newly founded diocese by King Otto I.

The Nitzow village church dates from around 1300. The wide, rectangular west tower, which was built from field stone and brick, is still preserved from the original building. The late Gothic nave was built in the 15th century and was originally vaulted. The vault was probably destroyed in the Thirty Years' War. It was replaced by a beam ceiling.

Cycling

The village community center in Nitzow was renovated in 2018. To do this, the rotten wooden parts had to be replaced, the covering paint on the entire framework removed and replaced with the new one. The historic box windows on the west side of the house also had to be renovated. Now the village community center, in which the Heimatstube is located, is again the jewel of the place.
