Originally built as a baroque palace by the people of Ulner, the aristocratic von Fechenbach family redesigned the building in 1860 in a late classicist style. Since 1951 it has been the seat of the town museum with an archaeological and folklore collection.
The most important piece is the cult image of the god Mithras found in Dieburg in 1926. The mysterious cult, which has not yet been deciphered, was widespread in the Roman Empire, which was tolerant in matters of religion. Worship of Mithras only disappeared with Christianity's claim to absoluteness (the state religion from 391).
