Adolf Reichwein was a German reformist and resistance fighter against the National Socialist dictatorship. On October 20, 1944 he was sentenced to death and executed. In the 1920s he also left significant traces in Jena. From 1923 to 1929 Reichwein headed the Thuringia Adult Education Center in Jena. A commemorative plaque was unveiled on the site of the young workers' home he founded on the Beutenberg on the 70th anniversary of his death.
