Good for a day trip, the start of a walk with many local tracks (beware the Kauri Dieback control stations. Please use these to stop this disease) and a swim. With west coast beaches, they are rough and it is recommended for strong swimmers only or remain in the shallower waves. There is a stream to cross to get tot eh beach. You can walk south to Whatipu from there as well. There are toilet and changing facilities and surf life guards operate through the summer.
