Nieuwkoop steam pumping station in Korteraar was built in 1894.
Nieuwkoop pumping station drains the approximately 2770 ha. Large reclaimed land/polder Nieuwkoop. Due to the low location, there is a lot of seepage in the area, which means that pumping has to be carried out daily. The water supply takes place via the Schoutenvaartsche Molentocht and is discharged into the ring canal of the Nieuwkoop polder, which is connected to the Nieuwkoopse Plassen.
