The Geertruidskerk on the Markt of the fortified town of Geertruidenberg has a long history that goes back to the year 660. The oldest tuff stone foundations of the church date back to around 1100. Over the centuries, many changes and expansions have taken place and several architectural styles are increasing. As the Orange Church, the Geertruidskerk also has a special relationship with our Royal Family.

Hiking

Geertruidenberg is a pleasant old fortified town. The city takes its name from Gertrudis van Nivelles, who is said to have founded a monastery here on a mountain (hill) in the seventh century.
Geertruidenberg always belonged to Holland (Current provinces of North Holland and South Holland) and was the first place in Holland to receive city rights, it became a city in the year 1213.
