Surrounded by local shops and restaurants, Blue Bonnet Circle Park is located in the middle of Fort Worth’s first traffic circle. In 1949 the landscape architecture firm Hare and Hare developed preliminary plans for the park. Concrete sidewalks were constructed, and trees and shrubs were planted in 1951.

From 1975 through 1977, students from nearby McLean Middle School and Paschal High School raised money for benches for the park. In 1976, a tercentennial time capsule, meant to be opened in 2076 was placed in the center of the park. In July 1989, construction began on the seat wall that encircles the park, and a berm in the center of the park was added to interrupt drivers’ line of sight in an effort to cut down on the number of traffic accidents.

On April 18, 2009, the City of Fort Worth and The Friendship Force of Fort Worth dedicated the International Friendship Garden in the park. The Friendship Force of Fort Worth hosts and coordinates exchange programs with countries around the world. The garden includes flowers planted to bloom each month and commemorative bricks from exchange programs.
