A small piece of narrow gauge of 600 mm runs through the Holtingerveld.

This is part of the track that the Germans built in WWII to set up Havelte airport. The bomb craters testify to bombing by the Allies with the aim of preventing the construction of the airfield.

At the visitor center, a number of "tipping carts" are set up that were used during construction.

The parking lot at the visitor center is always accessible. The Holtingerveld only during the day.
