At Lauta there is evidence of mining history that goes back to the 16th century. The landscape-shaping heaps of silver ore mining that follow the ore veins are impressive. The heaps of the "Bauer Morgengang" and the "Elisabeth Flachen", which are lined up like a string of pearls, belong to the historically most important corridors. Each heap marks the original location of one or more day shafts. The distance between the heaps is based on the size of the former mining fields. Since the 18th century, the water hole shaft has been developing on the Elisabeth Flachen. As the most important main shaft in the area, it is known today as the Rudolph shaft.
