The Oranjemolen

This windmill is a so-called "thatched ground sailor". In a short time it was the third mill on this site; two earlier mills burned down in 1908 and 1913. The current mill was not newly built on this site, but was built in 1840 as a polder mill in Baambrugge. The polder mill was bought in 1913 to use it as a flour mill in Wenum. In 1924 an auxiliary engine was installed to grind when there was no wind, so that people did not have to go to the watermill in Wenum or in Vaassen. The mill was completely restored between 2005 and 2008. The Vordeman family has been managing the mill since 1872.
