Simonburn is a picture-postcard Northumbrian village. Its stone cottages and rural surroundings give the village a timeless quality and it has been used as a film set for adaptations of Catherine Cookson novels.

The 13th-century St Mungo's Church is a pleasant sight, often referred to as the 'Mother Church' of the North Tyne Valley. There are a couple of B&Bs should you want to stay the night, whilst one also hosts a well-loved tearoom.
