Located in the city of Kandy, Sri Dalada Maligawa means the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (of Lord Buddha) and is one of the most popular tourist destinations of Sri Lanka. The temple is named accordingly as it holds a sacred tooth relic of Buddha and because the tooth itself has held so much significance and power. Thus, the city itself is a UNESCO site. When Sinhalese Kings held power from 1592 to 1815, the city of Kandy was the country’s capital and ardently protected. Definitely worth visiting!
