The Märzenbecher thrives on moist, nutrient-rich, at most moderately acidic clay and loam soils and is a moisture indicator. It grows in groups, but very rarely forms such large stands as in the Oder Forest. According to the Federal Species Protection Ordinance, it is particularly protected and according to the Red List as endangered. The whole plant is poisonous because of its alkaloid content.

The southern Oderwald is worth seeing both geologically and botanically. There is a geopark and a special attraction here: in March, the forest floor is covered with white flowering March cups for two to three weeks.

One of the largest closed Märzenbecher locations in Lower Saxony. Also a lot. Wild garlic areas (from March, bloomed in huge white areas from late April to May). The geopath and the E6 long-distance hiking trail also run here
