Achterdiekpark

This was once the Bremen Zoo, actually a dealer for large wild animals has raised his zoo as an animal park. It was a long time ago.

The park is worth it because it is maintained by committed citizens. These have created him from the legacies of the attempt to start a zoo here with no transport links.

HistoryThe area of the Achterdiekpark was used for agricultural purposes until 1961. From 1961 to 1966, an animal trading company operated here, and from 1966 to 1973, Bremen Zoo. In 1976, a citizens' initiative association was founded to protect the former zoo grounds with the aim of preserving and developing the area as a park. The idea of nature conservation was to be taken into account and a local recreation area for the citizens of Bremen was to be created.In 1978, a football pitch was built and in 1980 a playground. The association was renamed Achterdiekpark e. V. in 1981. In 1993, the association received a share of the proceeds from the Bürgerpark tombola for the first time.
