From 1753/54 an ironworks was built near the village of Torgelow on the orders of the Prussian King Friedrich II. The iron and steel works area, which was called Hüttenhof in its early days, was the central square of the iron and steel works.
There is a bell tower near the center of the square. The bell tower was built in 1811. The two bells were cast in the same year from lawn iron ore in the Torgelower Hütte. They were decorated with the Prussian coat of arms and the name "Torgelow".
