These settlements of Cananefaten, from Roman times, were located in what is now called the Harnaschpolder. The area was organized by the Roman administrators. Colonization is said to have started from the old city of Forum Hadriani (near Voorburg). In Roman times, a stone building stood in Rijswijk De Bult, which may have been the center of an estate to which surrounding farmhouses (including these here) belonged.
