Geographical Center of Canton Aargau

The center of the Aargau is in the forest of Niederlenz near the Aare, and, as is usual in the center of the cantons, it invites you to linger with a fireplace and benches. The eleven benches symbolize the eleven districts of the canton, and the notches on the benches show the directions in which their main towns are located.

The center of the canton of Aargau is located in the northern part of the district of Lenzburg on the territory of the municipality of Niederlenz.Encouraged by the cultural foundation Pro Argovia, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 1977, students of HTL Windisch calculated the geographical center of Aargau.As a result of a complex math problem, the computer haunted the coordinates 654 217/251 240. This point is located on the northern edge of the Niederlenzer municipality in Lenzhardwald.On the occasion of the jubilee "175 years Canton of Aargau", the citizens of Niederlenz decided to design the center of the canton as a meeting place. The center of the site marks a boulder from the central Aaremassiv, which had been found in the gravel plant Niederlenz.Around the center eleven benches made of Jurakalk invite you to linger. The notches in the benches indicate from the center the exact directions to the eleven district headquarters.Two fireplaces complete the facility. They offer visitors the opportunity to barbecue and linger longer in this beautiful place.
