The current chapel was built in 1896 and expanded by a third in 1965. It has about 200 places. The approximately 320 inhabitants in the districts of Westrum, Hölze and Aselage regard the chapel as "their chapel", for which they are willing and ready to make sacrifices. In the years 1994–1996 and 2011 it was last renovated inside and outside, with many residents actively helping through donations. Patron of the chapel is St. Antonius, the hermit (January 17th), whose festival is celebrated extensively on Tönjes Day to this day.
