In 1932 a cross was erected on the spot for the first time by the young men's association in Fredeburg. In 1991, the St. Georg Bad Fredeburg rifle club erected a new cross on the same spot because the old one was dilapidated. The Schützenkreuz bears the inscription "You will be my witnesses".
