This is one of the only sections of road in the New Forest which runs right next to the sea. It's a fabulous stretch of cycling with Lepe Beach at the eastern end.
You can access the beach directly from the road, where there's a pleasant sandy section to stop. The car park next to the beach is part of Lepe Country Park and benefits from a cafe with sea views.

the only (nice) coastal road in the New Forest suitable for road cycling, as far as I'm aware. Most other places are either busy or you only get a glimpse of the sea way off. Stop for a break at one of the benches next to the road or go down to the beach itself. At the eastern end of the road is Lepe country park, with toilets and a café and worth a visit in itself

In Lepe car park, what looks like a fenced-off weather station was actually a Cold War bunker for observers to report on any nuclear attacks on Portsmouth.
If you go the road nearest the coast the other side of Beaulieu heading towards Lymington you ride through the centre of what was a temporary advanced airfield for Typhoon fighter bombers supporting the D Day landings. It basically stopped just short of the water. Identified by a roadside board.
