Family members of the manufacturers Cramer and Buchholz once lived in the more than 200-year-old house, on whose facade even the Prussian master builder Karl Friedrich Schinkel was supposed to have worked. They produced black powder and thus determined the local economic activity so strongly that the region was also called "Kingdom of Buchholz". Because of a visit by Kaiser Wilhelm II, the "Villa Buchholz" was sometimes also called "Kaiservilla". The museum on the first floor (opening times: Sundays 11.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m.) is operated by the "Förderverein Villa Ohl". The history of the black powder mills in the valley of the Wipper and its side streams as well as the trade and transport of explosive goods is shown.
