The access to this "lost place" is very hidden. In August 2024, mosquitoes attacked this short path covered with fresh grass. But nature is slowly reclaiming the place. Now a tree has fallen on the house.

The Bahlsen hunting lodge is popularly known as "The Iron Seat". Quote: "It is reported that the house was very well equipped inside. There were beds, a kitchen, washing facilities and even a toilet. In addition to the garage under the house, there was supposedly a swimming pool in the early years, but this was filled in when the house was no longer in use." Uncertain records, but conceivable, in any case electricity and water connections are still visible today. The clearing in front of the house is said to have been cleared for hunting purposes at the time.

Not far from Wettmar in the district of Thönse (near Hanover) you will find this unusual hunting lodge in the middle of the forest in a small clearing.
The building is apparently made entirely of iron and stands on "stilts" about 5m high. On the ground below is some kind of garage or shed. There is no ladder or stairs leading up. What is in the cabin is unknown. A slightly larger headlight is fitted outside the cabin, otherwise the suspected window openings are all blocked.
It seems to have been built in the 1940s, with the Bahlsen and Tischbein families as clients. It is not known how long this hunting lodge was used or whether it is still used in any way today.
