Cycling
The planned route of the A20 coastal motorway will cut through forest areas in the Garnholt area, which, among other things, have an important habitat function for black woodpeckers. A new partial habitat was created here for this species from autumn 2020 to spring 2021. This includes breeding and sleeping trees (free-standing old wood trunks with 4-10 meter branch-free areas, > 35 cm diameter, smooth bark, free approach) and promoting the food supply in the form of ants and insects. These find habitat through light forest structures and dead wood.
