Luch is the northeast German name for an extensive, moored lowland, especially in Brandenburg. After the end of the Ice Age, a rising groundwater level led to the formation of swamp bogs, in which the excess water often remained in small ponds.
The Postluch is a so-called peat moss bog. It is kept in the database "Sensible Moore in Brandenburg", which includes the most important moor areas in Brandenburg in terms of nature conservation and represents the basic data on the condition of the moors and their catchment areas.
