A former iron ore port, today Ulverston is an attractive market town. Famously the birthplace of Stan Laurel, fans will be delighted by the Laurel and Hardy Museum. The centre has all manner of amenities, with plenty of accommodation options, eateries and pubs.

Ulverston is a good base for exploring the estuaries that spill out into Morecambe Bay, as well as for heading up to Coniston and Windermere in the South Lakes.
