The standerd mill owes its name to the heavy vertical wooden spindle, the standerd or standard, on which the rectangular mill house, the cupboard, rests. Heavy, double braces hold this spindle in its vertical position.
The cabinet can rotate around this stand. This is necessary to be able to 'turn' the mill into the wind. The sail cross hangs on one side of the mill and the tail, stairs and wheel reel on the other side.
The miller can use the wheel reel to rotate the box so that the blades receive maximum windage. The cupboard contains the rotating or moving construction of the mill: wooden wheels and millstones with which grain can be ground.

The mill was built around 1640 for the lords of Mierlo. It was located on the Molenheide and served as a flour mill. In the course of the 19th century it came into the hands of private individuals. In 1860 the mill was moved to Dorpsstraat and in 1992 it was moved to its current location: a lawn in the middle of the village.
The mill was owned by the municipality from 1956 to 2020 and was restored in 1941 and 1970. Since 2020 it has been owned by the Molenstichting Geldrop-Mierlo.
Although the mill is ready to grind, it is no longer in use for grinding consumption. However, it is open weekly to demonstrate all facets of a flour mill.
